The Frida Armchair is a perfect example of how design can uniquely incorporate the essence of Brazilian culture. Its seat is a masterfully folded metal sheet, whose surface is skilfully coated in tanned leather, providing a harmonious fusion of solidity and softness. However, the true highlight is the armrests, which take on an amoeboid shape, adding versatility to the design.
These armrests are attached to the seat by leather strips that allow them to move freely, either resting on the seat or hanging to the side, giving the user the freedom to adapt the armchair to their needs and preferences. The back support follows the same concept, featuring an oval shape and generous padding covered in leather.
The combination of these perspective geometries evokes the photogenic topography of our country, with every gesture serving a functional purpose. The piece’s name has an emotional origin: Frida is a little dog whose ears rarely stay in the same position. When one is up, the other is folded, invariably – much like the armrests of our armchair. Being both simple and capable of establishing connections with the collective imagination regarding Brazil, we believe the design incorporates our rich, artisanal, and versatile identity. We believe that the armchair will be a success in national design due to its beauty and ornamental nature.
