The architectural elements distributed along the Charitas waterfront function as transitional structures between the city and the beach, aiming to enhance the natural landscape of Guanabara Bay. With minimal intervention in mind, the pergolas are made of ultra-light metal structures and materials that allow light to pass through while providing shade, such as translucent photovoltaic panels and fishing nets of varying mesh sizes. The roofs are positioned close to the treetops, making them almost imperceptible in the landscape.
